Mary McGuire 1833 : Short Biography

Mary McGuire was the daughter of John McGuire and Mary Donnelly.  She was born in May of ~1833 in Ireland, county unknown, although likely one of the northern counties.  She emigrated to the US in 1853, settling in Kenosha, Wisconsin where many other Irish emigrants had also settled.  I believe that mary may have emigrated at the same time as her brother John McGuire/Maguire.  She met a German man there, Peter Maibach/Mevich, probably in the Catholic Church, and they married and had a daughter named Kathryn "Kate" there.  They then moved to Bureau County, IL so that Peter could work on the railroad there, as many Irish and Germans did.  They went on to have 8 more children.  Peter died at ~46 years of age and Mary remarried a local Irishman named Michael Keegan when she was 64.  They had a few good years together and then Mary developed dementia and had to be institutionalized.  She died in Peoria, IL in 1910 at St. Joseph's Home.
