Mary Rolston (Roulsten) born 23 May 1820 in Tyregerty, Armagh. Married Hugh Beattie 20 July 1840 in Blackwatertown, Clonfeacle, Armagh.
Mary and Hugh emigrated from Ireland to Australia at the end of 1841 leaving from Liverpool on the Champion. They arrived in Australia in 1842.
Hugh and Mary had a number of successful children and grandchildren including Dame Mary Gilmore who was given a State Funeral. There were writers, war correspondents, teachers, a British Consul to Switzerland, farmers, entrepreneurs, wine makers, military soldiers including a lieutenant Colonel, architects, builders etc.
