Migrated to/Born in USA

Mary Rush was the daughter of Richard Rush and Mary Clarkin (sp) of the Newbliss area.  (She had 3 brothers Frank, Patrick and John.)  Mary Rush married John Donoghue on Jun 27, 1878 at Killeevan Parish.

Baptismal records at Killeevan Parish show they had two children, Charles, born in October, 1879 and  Margaret born in April, 1881. We know that John Donoghue and daughter Margaret came to the United States in late 1881 or 1882. We know Mary Rush died before they arrived in the US and that young Charles did not come to the US with them. John and young daughter, Margaret, settled in Kansas City, Mo. not long after arrival. The story gets blurry from there.  Some family stories say Mary Rush Donoghue died following Margaret's birth while still in Ireland.  Others say she died in route to the US with John and Margaret.  Some family stories are that a daughter (not a son) was left in Ireland with other family, and raised in Ireland. Some years later, in Kansas, the memory is that Margaret received a letter from Ireland saying her 'sister' died.  We have not been able to find where Mary Rush Donoghue or Charles Donoghue are buried in Ireland. Who raised Charles (or the sister)? Any information helpful.

  • My 3x great-grandmother Ann Rush was born in 1819 in the Newbliss area and married John Keenan in 1843. He was from Greenan's Cross quite near Newbliss. They emigrated to Illinois where John died and Ann with most of her children moved on to western Kansas around Seward Kansas. I wonder if you have found anything more on Mary Rush?
