Mary Ryan married William Brearton (Breirton, Brereton) on March 6, 1821 in Borrisoleigh(sp?) Marriage record states she was from Glenbrida and William was from Knockomoora (sp?) Witnesses were James Ryan and William Brearton, Sr. Family records tell us she was Catholic and he was Church of Ireland. (His father was a Church of Ireland minister.) They lived in or near Thurles, where he worked as an architect on ancient castles until his death around 1834-36. In about 1837 Mary emigrated to Canada with 4 children: Johanna (1823-1898) (married name: Touhey), Patrick (1826-1879), Michael (1827-1855), and Mary (1829-1912) (married name: Williams). In Canada they lived in Puslinch or Guelph. All 4 children eventually moved to USA.
