MaryMrs. Lawrence O'Hearn, one of the early settlers, died at her residence in the eastern part of the city about nine o'clock Friday evening, Nov. 1, 1907. Mary Sheridan was born in the County of Monaghan, Ireland, June 22nd, 1838 (year is misprint), where she lived until the age of twenty when she came to this country and settled in Towanda, Pennsylvania, and was there united in marriage to Mr. Lawrence O'Hearn in the year 1865. From there they moved to Caledonia, Minn., during the year 1869, and came to Lone Rock, Moody county in 1878, resided there until about two years ago when they moved to Flandreau. Deceased was a sufferer from stomach trouble more or less for several years and passed away peacefully on an aforesaid evening. She was a devout Christian woman, being a life long member of the Catholic church, loved and respected by all who knew her. The funeral took place at 10 o'clock Monday morning from the home with services by Rev. Father Kielty, of New York. The funeral was one of the largest ever taking place in the county, many not being able to get inside the church. After the services the remains were laid at rest in the Catholic cemetery southeast of the city. Deceased leaves to mourn her loss, her husband and five children, one daughter, Mrs. A.H. Willard of this county, four sons, John of Watertown, SD, Frank of Luverne, Minn., Edward and Lawrence of Flandreau. Death Certificate #9032 Reg.
