Matthew was born in Killeenadeema, Aug 17 1846. His father was Patrick Broderick and his mother was Catherine (nee Boyle). He had 8 siblings, one of whom died young. It is believed that at least 5 siblings immigrated to Boston MA, where Matthew met and married Bridget Sheehan, also from Loughrea, parish unknown. They had 8 children, 5 who died as young children or infants. My grandfather was his son, Patrick John Broderick (aka Jack). Both Matthew and Jack worked on the railroad most of their working lives.
