Matthew King was born 1810 in Dunfanaghy.
On 5 Jan 1832 he married Mary Hynes in the Diocese of Galway, Parish Rahoon.
They had 2 children : Matthew (born 1831) and William (born 1832).
Their son, William, is my great-great grandfather.
William married Catharine Robinson/Robson 24 Mar 1854 in the Parish of Clondehorky Presbyterian Church in Dunfanaghy, Donegal.
They had 8 children together:; William , Mary, Matthew (my great grandfather), Thomas, James, John, Andrew and George.
Catharine Robinson/Robson-King died 31 Oct 1879. After her death, all their children eventually emmigrated to Philadelphia. This left William (born 1832) and his father, Matthew (born 1810) in Dunfanaghy. In May 1897, William decided to go to Philadelphia. His passage was paid for by his son Matthew, whom William would also live with in Philadelphia.
This left Matthew (born 1810) basically alone in Dunfanaghy. This may have been the reason / hardship that caused him to go to the Dunfaghy Workhouse. I'm not sure the exact date he entered the workhouse, but he died there on 24 Dec 1908 of old age (he was 98 years old, according to his death certificate.
