Married to Margaret Cosgrove on 24 February 1838 (in Shanagolden). Roman Catholic.

The whole family emigrated to Australia (NSW) on the Blundell, arriving in 1853. Catharine Sheehy died in 1853, before the family left.

All were Monteagle emigrants.
