My great grandfather Michael Cloherty (Clocherty) was born to Patrick Cloherty and Anne McNamara in Clifden, Co. Galway, on 8th July 1862. He appears to have moved to Scotland in the late 1800's, possibly where he married Delia Egan and they had several children there. He lived in Dumbarton and worked in the ship building industry, at later tragically died in 1894 at a young age of 32, in a boating accident (accidental drowning).
