My GG Grandparents Michael Coyne and Mary Ferguson were born abt 1820 and 1822. They were married in 1841 and Michael was a farmer in Calladashin. They had 12 children, 10 daughters and 2 sons, from 1845 through 1868. I am certain that Michael was a very successful farmer during the famine years and marvel how he and Mary survived the famine and kept adding to their family. Michael is listed on the 1901 census as is his 1st son Patrick ( born 1856) who I believe took over the family farm. I believe at least 3 daughters immigrated to Philadelphia, PA including my G Grandmother Ellen Coyne (born 1861) in 1886. Ellen married Michael Hanahoe from Ringary in 1889 at a church in Philadelphia so I assume that Ellen lived near Michael and knew him during their childhood days.
I can not locate death or burial records for Michael and Mary but again, I marvel at how resilient they both must have been to survive the famine while raising their young family and continued living their lives in their beloved Ireland.
