Michael Dooley was born in 1823 in Moneygall, the son of Darby and Bridget Dooley. Michael married Annie Toohey (Tuohey?) in February 1853 in Grawn, Co. Tipperary. They emigrated to Melbourne on the Emma Eugenia which had sailed out of Liverpool. They travelled to the Bendigo goldfields in central Victoria. Annie gave birth to 4 children but only 1 survived, my great-grandfather John Michael Dooley. Michael died in Bendigo on 4 December 1868 in Bendigo, aged 45. Annie remarried and moved to nearby Rushworth. She died in 1892.
