Ferns does not just mean the town and if someone is born in Ferns there are several churches in the Diocese that you would need to search.NLI church records are the best source online and I found tons of my ancestors by trawling through entire births and marriage registries, but its worth it in the end and if you do the same I should imagine you will find many more family connections.
What I do is create folders with the names I am researching and anything relevant I find I store in there until I am ready to put the puzzle together

My Great-Great Grandfather, Michael Doyle, was born in 1836 and lived in Ballylough. He married Mary Sutton in Ferns in 1861. Mary's family lived in Enniscorthy. I'm searching for any record of his birth, his parents names, and any other information that can help me in my ancestral search.
His offspring emigrated to Canada in the latter part of the century and his widow, Mary, died in Carleton Place, Ontario, Canada in 1910. Michael is believed to have died in Castlebridge in 1881.
Although the majority of his descendants live in the Ottawa Valley and southern Ontario in Canada, I currently live in Phoenix, Arizona.
I know there is a Doyle's Bar on Upper Main St in Ferns but I don't know if there is any family connection.
I would deeply appreciate any information.

In case you didn't find this information I can confirm that this marriage was indeed in the town of Ferns and not just the Diocese, Witnesses at the marriage were Martin Murphy and Anty (Anastatia) Murphy. Their first child Mary was born August 1862 in the same parish - record can be found here. https://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000634066#page/103/mode/1up
I'm sure there are others to be found.
Cheers
