I have just found an entry in the Irish Parish Registers for Michael Gilmartin and the parish is stated as Ahamlish, with the diocese as Elphin.
FAther Patrick Mother Brig Langhlin ( but this is not clear)Ihad always believed he was baptised in the cathedral at Ballina
I can find no trace of his parents anywhere and now I am wondering if they might be from Amamlish
