Michael CROWLEY married Mary Ann CUMMINS (daughter of James CUMMINS/Teresa CONNOR) at St Andrews, Westland Row, Dublin on 13 June 1875. Michael, Mary Ann and her widowed father, James CUMMINS, and siblings, Bridget, Peter and Matthew CUMMINS, sailed to Port Adelaide, South Australia per the ship GOLDEN SEA arriving on 30 March 1876.
In Adelaide Michael worked as a cab driver, employed by his wife's aunt, Julia REDDAN (nee CUMMINS). Michael and Mary Ann started their family having Timothy (1876-1878), Mary Therese (1878-1958), Catherine (1881-1906) and Isabella Margaret CROWLEY (1884-1884) in Kensington, South Australia, before sailing to Sydney, New South Wales. Their infant daughter, Isabella, died soon after their arrival. Four more children were born in Ultimo-James John (1885-1934), Elizabeth (1887-1971), Michael Joseph (1889-1971) and Matthew Thomas (1892-1952).
In Sydney Michael worked as the driver of hansom cabs and later as a dock labourer. The family moved from Ultimo to Pyrmont, living in Quarry Street, Experiment Street, Little Mount Street, Bowman Street and Cross Street. Michael died in Sydney Hospital in 1919 and is buried in the Catholic Cemetery Rookwood.
