Michael Larkin  (1837-1867)

Born on the properties of Lusmagh's Cloghan Castle, Michael was the second child of MICHAEL LARKIN and MARY QUIRKE.

He was Baptised at St. Cronan's Church in 1837.

His father was a tailor by trade, and the family, after many generations, left the properties of Cloghan for Birr.

MICHAEL married SARAH DUNN at St. Brendan's, Birr, 11 July 1856.

They had FIVE children:

Patrick (1856-1893) Born at Birr and died in New York.

 Bernard (1859-1865) Born at Birr and died in Birr or Manchester

 Mary Ann (1860-1940) Born at Birr and died in New York

 Margaret (1863-1916) Born at Birr and died in New York

Catherine (1866-1944) Born at Manchester and died in New York

Michael Larkin was one of the Manchester Martyrs, hanged at Salford Gaol, 23 November 1867.
