Michael Maguire was born in 1866 in Dadanup Park, Western Australia. 

His parents were James Maguire from Limerick and Elizabeth Carberry from Galway. Elizabeth was an orphan girl from Mountbellew Workhouse, sent to Australia in the 1850s. 

Michael died in 1868. He later had a brother named after him.
