Michael Mahony (Mahoney in the USA) was born in May 1863 in Cammoge, Moyarta to Nicholas Mahony and Ellen Brew. He left Ireland for New York City, New York, USA about 1886. Here he met and married Annie Condlon (Candlin) on 13 November 1892 at St. Rose Catholic Church, Manhattan, NY. By 1994 the family moved to Jersey City, New Jersey where Nicholas, Mary Margaret, Michael, Peter, John, Ellen and Simon were born. Michael died 13 August 1927, in Jersey City, NJ and is buried with Annie in Holy Name Cemetery Catholic Cemetery in Jersey City.
