Michael McGeeney was born possibly in County Down around 1846. He married Martha Connor in the Roman Catholic Chapel of Armagh on 6 Feb 1868. His father was Patrick McGeeney and hers was Bernard Connor. His mother was Margaret or Anna Murphy. Michael and Martha traveled to Scotland and had their first son there in Abbey Paisley, Renfrew, Renfrewshire in March 1869. They immigrated to the U.S. about 1871. Their next son was born in Doniphan County, Kansas in 1872. Michael may have had brothers Stephen (bap. 1835), Michael (bap. 1840), and James (bap. 1844). He worked at various jobs including stone mason, well-driller, and farmer. Some relatives may have immigrated before him but I have no definite information about them. Michael died in 1918 in Marshall County, Kansas.
