Migrated to/Born in USA

Michael O'Connor is my 3rd great-grandfather, born in County Galway in September, 1819 and baptised on September 30, 1819 at St. Nicholas, County Galway. His father was Owen O'Connor and his mother was named Margaret. Per the 1900 US Census, he arrived in the United States in 1848 which is corraborated by an immigration record from New York City listing a Michael O'Connor of the appropriate age arriving on April 1, 1848. Given his status at that time as a single male of <30 years of age, it is logical to conclude that his move was related to the Great Hunger. At some point after his arrival he married Catherine Magner and they spent time in New Hampshire before settling in Table Mound Township, Dubuque County, Iowa. I have as yet been unable to locate his obituary or death notices, however he is present in the 1900 US Census but not in the 1910 US Census, indicating he died during this decade.

I know very little about his life, parents, or siblings prior to his arrival in the United States and would like to learn more about his family and life.
