Michael Rooney was a farmer/laborer who married Margaret Rooney (nee Connelly). Marriage records for Michael and Margaret show they were married on Jan. 9, 1859, in Athenry, Co. Galway. However, there is a variant (or misspelling) in the church record that shows Reeney instead of Rooney. Records show they had three children: John (1860-1935), Martin (1864-1939) and Michael (1862- Oct. 6, 1949).
