Michael Sullivan was born in Laccabeg, Abbeydorney, County Kerry about 1833. He emigrated to Boston, Massachusetts, USA, around 1852. He married Catherine Kelly (of Kiltoom, County Roscommon) in Boston in 1856. They had three children: John Lawrence, the heavyweight boxing champ; Anne Elizabeth, my great grandmother; and Michael Francis. Michael was a laborer. He died in 1890 and is buried in Old Calvary Cemetery in Mattapan, Massachusetts in the Sullivan-Lennon family plot.
