Michael Tollet of Tallagh BELMULLET was married to Anne 'Nancy' Padden aka Áine Nic Páidín.

At the time of Griffiths Valuation of Tallagh in 1856, no Tollet (aka Tollett) was recorded as having land in this townland. It would appear Michael and his brother William married into Padden and Caulfied farmland here respectively.

  • John Padden at #4a

  • James Padden at #64a

  • Thomas Padden at #65a

  • Patrick Padden at #68a

The only Tollet in the entire barony of Erris recorded at this time was Anne Tollet at #1l in the townland of Clooneen (just north of Tallagh).

Comments

  • I'm wondering - could Michael Tollet and Nancy Padden be the parents of Margaret Tollet (b. 1845, married John O'Toole). I had thought her parents were a different couple that emigrated to Scotland, but I'm thinking now that this Michael could have been her father. All I know for certain is that her father was named Michael. I think the information I submitted for Margaret could have been incorrect.
