Migrated to/Born in USA

Owen Dowd was born around 1735 in Cootehill, County Cavan. The son of Conner Dowd and Margaret Bourke, he married Judith Faye Pye and emigrated to the American colonies with at least two of his brothers (Cornelius and Connor Dowd). The younger Connor Dowd eventually returned to Ireland after the Revolutionary War, as the brothers were on the side of the British Loyalists during the war and Owen himself was killed in the Battle of Lindley's Mill in 1781.

Some accounts have Owen as having emigrated after at least one of his brothers and having taken his wife and his three young children for the journey. As the trip proved more perilous than they might've hoped, they may have lost two of their three children and only my sixth great-grandfather Conner survived the trip.
