Hi Jeanie,

Owen Murphy is my great- grandfather and emigrated in June 1846 to Boston, MA, US with his new bride, Catherine "Kate" McCarthy.  They were married February 24, 1846 in Dunmanway.  She may have lived in Ardcahgen??  They had five children and my grandfather Eugene F. Murphy was born in Boston in July 1863.

Does any of that ring any bells?

I know Murphy is a common name, so this may well be a wild guess or suggestion.

I have in my Kilmurry heritage my great great great grandmother Julia Murphy. She married Cornelius Murray before 1815 and my great great GrandfatherThomas Murray was born 1819.

Could your Owen be first cousin to my Thomas Murray?

Non of it makes sense as I only have the names Hosford and Armstrong from Ireland in my own research. These names come frome Ireland reaching out.

names from my county and Cork Dna facebook page are Toomey, Ryan, Cramer,Moore, Sutherland, Caraway.

Hi, I think I may be related to someone here.

My Father’s Mother was Leona Irene Murphy, she died in 1984. I was born in 1993. I don’t know much about my Fathers side of the family, but I know my grandmothers parents names were Winifred Reynolds and Leo Murphy. Does any of this apply?

You have nailed it!  My mother, Irene Murphy was Leo Murphy's sister and Leona my cousin.  I knew your grandfather Eddie as we spent Christmas Eve together for several years at Leo and Winnie's house.  Which son of Leona and Edie is your Dad, Paul or David?
