Patrick Connell : Short Biography

I am trying to determine when and where my Great Great Grandparents, Patrick Connell (B abt1813 - D by 1870 where?) and Elizabeth Ward (B abt1810 - D1883 in America) were born and possibly married in Ireland. They might have been born in Mullingar, Westmeath to James Connell and Honor Tuite. They emigrated (Separately? Together?) to America before 1840 and settled in Pittston, Pennsylvania. He was a coal miner. They had 8 children. The Censuses say all were born in America, but census reports are not always correct. Was their eldest Mary born in Ireland or America? I have found no record of his death She died in Scranton, Pennsylvania in 1883.

• Possible parents, cannot determine for sure? – James Connell (1789-1874) and Honor Tuite (1790-1843)
• Did Patrick and Elizabeth marry in Ireland?
• Did they have their first child in Ireland?
• Emigrated to America sometime before 1840 (American 1840 Census has them in Pittston)
• Children: Mary (1841?-1906), Michael (1842-1912), Catherine (1846-1883), James J (1847-1884), Daniel F (1849-1917), John R (1850-1914), Peter (1853-1899), Patrick T (1856-1919)     I looked into Irish naming conventions in order to find Patrick’s parents, but no pattern showed up. Patrick Connell too common of a name?
• Did Patrick die in the American Civil War? Coal Mine accident? Or did he possibly return to Ireland at some point?

Lots of unanswered questions….definitely in need of some help!
