Patrick was baptised in the parish of East Schull c1829 and left Ireland with members of his family to join others who had already settled in East London, working in the docks. He married Mary Bohan of Skibbereen in 1854. They had seven children, three of whom died in infancy. Patrick died by drowning as the result of an industrial accident in 1867.
