Hello there, Patrick Hewson is GG Grandfather. Funny I was searching to see who John Hewson was on the census, couldn't find a birth cert to find who is parents were. My mother lived in Hewson cottages in 1930.

Patrick Hewson Jr. was recorded as occupier of No. 1 Hewson's Cottages, Newfoundland Street, North Wall Dublin, in the 1911 and 1912 Electoral rolls for Dublin 1.
According to family lore, his father Patrick Hewson Sr. owned Hewson's Cottages (aka Houston's Cottages aka Greave's Cottages) back in the mid-19th century. Indeed, at the time of Griffith's Valuation in 1847, Pat Sr. held the lease to all 4 cottages in this row, and resided at No. 4 himself. However he appears to have been a tenant of Charles Gaussen Esq. (a solicitor who owned most of the properties on Newfoundland Street) acting as agent/ middleman for the other cottages.
In his day, Patrick Jr. worked on Dublin's Docks on a ship called the Lady Hudson.
In the 1911 Census, he is recorded at no 3.1 Hewson's Cottages as a widower, age 73 (had been married for 50 years) with only his nephew, John Hewson (b.1896), residing with him. Next-door at #3.2 was his daughter Mary who had married Thomas Kelly.
