I too have Kirby ancestors. John Kirby married Mary Foley in Tallow Waterford in1858. Their 1st 6 children were born in the Ballyduff registration district of Co Waterford. Their next 6 children were born in east Co Cork, in the union of Fermoy. Could there be a connection with your family?

John and Mary are my great-great grandparents. My great grandfateher is their 11th child, Richard P. Kirby, Who had my grandfather, Daniel H. Kirby. Daniels oldest child was my mother.
We are planning on visiting Ireland next year :)
