My grandfather Patrick Mahon was born in Leggah, County Longford in 1900. His parents were Thomas Mahon (1859) and Margaret McGovern (1879). His siblings were Edward (1898), my grandfather Patrick (1900), Thomas (1902), Daniel (1905), John (1908) & Mary Ellen (1910).
My grandfather immigrated to New York City in 1928 and married Nora McAuliffe from Co Cork in 1932. Unfortunately he passed when my father was a teenager, so I never met my grandfather. He worked his way up to working as a conductor on the RR, an esteemed and respected position. I have been told he was a very nice man. :)
I am trying to learn of my family history, and also to hopefully meet cousins from my ancestral townlands! And of course to visit one day!
