Patrick O'Loughlen Jr. held the whole townland of Cullaun in the 1850s.
He was the son of Elizabeth O'Loughlin (1801-1880) & Patrick O'Loughlin Sr. (1802-1874) of Cullan and grew up speaking both spoke Irish and English.
He inherited the family farm in his early 20s, following the death of his father in 1874. His mother survived him by 6 years.
On 28 February 1876, at the Chapel of Cloony, Ennistymon, he married Mary Flaherty (age 19) witnessed by Mary Moloney and Walter Neylan aka Neylon.

Court records show Pat receiving a traffic fine for "allowing his horse and cart to wander in Ballyvaughan" in 1882. And that Pat Jr. had an interest in land nearby at Ballyhena in the 1880s. He was present at the deathbed of Brigid O'Loughlin (widow) who died in Ballyhenna (Kiltoom) in 1893.
By the time this family appears on record in the Census of 1901 their 3-room thatch house was home to 13.
Pat appears on record registering his sheepdog for a Dog Licence up until 1908.
