Patrick Rooney/Denis Rouine & Honorah Rouine (Doherty)
I am searching for the parents of my ancestor Patrick Rooney. He was born circa 1820 maybe in Dolphins Barn Dublin. His Parents were Denis Rouine (Rooney?) and Honorah Rouine (Doherty) born???? Can you find any further information about Patrick's parents?
They may have migrated to the USA and Denis died in 1877 in Madison North Carolina. Honorah? died 1877 also in Nth Carolina.
The story we have in detail is that Patrick Rooney was a tanner and furrier of Dolphins Barn and married Anne Verschoyle in 1837. His address was listed as 20 Dolphins Barn.
They had 8 children James born 1839(baptised 27 January) Susannah born 1841(baptised 21st February) Anne Christina born 1842, Mary Darcy born 1844(baptised 9th April), Julia born 1846, Patrick Joseph born 1848(baptised 9 April) Henry D'Arcy born 1851(baptised 24 August) All baptised at Catholic parish of St James,
Patrick died early 1850's perhaps 1851. Anne continued the business at 24 Dolphins Barn (1855-1865)
Patrick Jnr arrived in Australia on Duleep Singh in 1868 sailing from Liverpool on 24 September and arriving in Melbourne on 27 December. The rest of the family except Susannah came to Australia on the Colonial Empire & The Essex in 1870 and 1871 starting a tannery business in Richmond Melbourne Australia
Anne’s family The Verschoyles were well known in Dublin Henrick and William Verschuyl (Verschoyle) migrating from the Netherlands in 1568. We have an extensive family history of this side of our family which is wonderful.
