Place of migration
Migrated to/Born in Australia

Patrick Ryan was born about 1830 in County Tipperary, migrated to Australia, married Johanna Bourke (132-1916) in 1854 in Victoria, and died there in 1900.

Patrick Ryan is a maternal gg grandfather of my spouse, Maureen Therese (Kelly) Murphy.

To the best of my knowledge, Patrick, son of Thomas Ryan and Margaret Fogarty, was baptised about 1830 in the townland of Pouldine, parish of Morcarkey (Catholic and civil parish), diocese of Cashel and Emly, Tipperary North Riding, Ireland.  On today's map, Moycarkey is near Thurles in County Tipperary.

Patrick was a labourer at the time of his marriage in 1854 Source: Victorian Registry of BDM reg no 02335/1854 at https://my.rio.bdm.vic.gov.au.

Patrick and his wife, Johanna, had 5 children - 3 girls and 2 boys all of whom lived and died in Victoria, Australia.

At the time of his death at Redbank, Victoria, aged 70, in May 1900, Patrick RYAN was a farmer who had lived 46 years in Victoria Source: Death: Victorian Registry of BDM, registration number 06957 / 1900 at https://my.rio.bdm.vic.gov.au

Patrick's death certificate - with his son, William, the informant - shows his place of birth as Tipperary, Ireland, and his parents as Thomas Ryan (farmer) and Margaret Fogarty.  His marriage certificate records the same details for his parents.

Patrick was buried at the Redbank Cemetery, Redbank, Victoria, Australia Source: https://billiongraves.com/grave/Patrick-Ryan/12570841.

After raising on the Ireland Reaching Out Message Board for County Tipperary the question where Patrick was baptised, I was very helpfully assisted by Dave Boylan to find support for the baptism place being the townland of Pouldine, parish of Morcarkey (Catholic and civil parish), diocese of Cashel and Emly, Tipperary North Riding, Ireland.

The Catholic Parish Registers at the NLI reveal baptisms for 2 other children of Thomas Ryan and Margaret Fogarty (Mary in 1810 and Margaret in 1832) in the Parish of Moycarkey in the Diocese of Cashel and Emly, County Tipperary.  An examination of Griffith's Valuation for Thomas Ryan in Morcarkey Parish shows that in 1850 Thomas Ryan occupied a house and land in the townland of Pouldine in that parish.

So, there is support for the view that Patrick Ryan was born in the townland of Pouldine, parish of Morcarkey (Catholic and civil parish), diocese of Cashel and Emly, Tipperary North Ridings, Ireland.  The Catholic parish today is Moycarkey-Borris Parish at https://moycarkeyborris.ie.
