I live in England , both my parents are alive and both from Dublin originally.

My grandad was called Peter Donohoe & lived on Windmill road, Crumlin .

  • Hi Caroline,

I have integrated your comment into the original Chronicle. Do you have any more information for example his year or death of birth? Even circa? If so, you can edit the Chronicle directly and include this information. The more you have, the easier it will be to connect with other descendants, and people in Crumlin, who can help you discover more.

  • I'm not sure if you already found what you're looking for, but your query came up when I was googling for a different Peter Donohoe, so I did some research for you...

On 10 Feb 1929 at St. Andrew's Church in the city of Dublin, Peter Donohoe, a painter, of Balfe St., son of Peter Donohoe (deceased), a former labourer, married Mary French of 36 Clarendon St., daughter of John French, a labourer. First marriage for both. Witnesses: James French and Jane Sherry - Officiator: Paul J. Rafter

If Peter's father was deceased prior to 1911, there are other possiblilities .. however if  the father, Peter, was living in 1911, your grandfather was likely to be:

Peter Donohoe, born (or maybe christened) on 6 Jun 1908, son of Peter Donohoe, born c.1874 & Lizzie/Elizabeth (nee Gillard), born c.1881, of York St., Dublin.  Siblings: Fanny born c.1905 & William born c.1907 - all five born in Count Dublin

If the above is correct, here is info on your great-grandparents:

On 26 Jan 1903 at the registrar's office in the city of Dublin, Peter Donohoe, a va___an [looks like vauluan or vanluan], of 13 Lw. [perhaps lower] Mercer St, son of Bryan Donohoe, a shoemaker married Lizzie Gillard of 23 York St., daughter of William Gillard, a cootmaker. First marriage for both. Witnesses: Michael Kavanagh and John Nolan.
