Most of the Loughlin families in County Longford appear as McLoughlins.

Do you have any details of Peter Loughlin, e.g. when he was born, parents names, siblings, where in Killoe Parish he was born etc ? and I'll see if I can help.

  • Mr. Leahy -

I wish I had that information to give you, but alas I do not. Peter Loughlin is my maternal Great-Grandfather; unfortunately I know little abut him except that he married Kate McKenna, either before or after they migrated to New York City. No one I knew in my mother's family who could give me any further information is still alive, and I am 91.  Certainly wish I knew more.  I can go back to the Mayflower on my father's side, but my mother's family never talked much (if at all) about their Ireland background.  They were all very successful in this country, but evidently they kept quiet about their roots.  Their oldest son I think was named Cornelius. Others were a son Joseph, my Uncle Joe; and daughters, Mary, Kate, Julie and Anna.  Anna was the youngest and married Thomas B. Cooley. They were my grandparents; my mother was their oldest child of four (2 girls & 2 boys).

Appreciate yur offer, wish I could take advantage of it!  All the best to you,
