Peter is the son of John Murphy and Mary O'Brien - We believe from Waterford County, Ireland.  He has 3 brothers John Murphy 1812-1897. Patrick Murphy 1819-1904, Edward Murphy 1821-1904.  they all came to Massachusetts, USA and they died there.  There is a possible brother Michael born in 1817, but we know nothing more on him.  Their father John Murphy born about 1789 in Ireland also came to Boston and this is where he died, mother Mary O'Brien I know nothing about.  Peter's father and brothers came to the United States in 1849 on the Schn Harriet and Jane, leaving from the port of Youghal to Boston.  We have been unable to find the ship Peter came on.  His Naturalization papers say he came into the port of New York, March of 1850. a year after his father and brothers.

Peter immigrated to New York 31 March 1850, he became a citizen of the United States 7 May 1859 in Boston, Massachusetts, USA.  Peter married Bridget Devlin in 1859.  We only have their marriage intention 15 October 1859, Scituate, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA.  Peter was a moss buyer, farmer and hotel keeper in Scituate, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA.  Peter died 3 March 1898 age 73, in Scituate, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA.  He was Cathiloc, he is buried in Saint Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Scituate, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA.  Peter and Bridget have 6 children, Mary Frances Murphy 1860-1925 she marries William Cashman in 1891.  Sarah Ellen Murphy 1862-1935 she marries William Rourke in 1907.  Joseph Peter Murphy 1864-1940 he married Emma Ellen Mitchell in1891.  James Henry Murphy 1866-1941 he married Catherine Murphy in 1891. Edward Francis Murphy 1870-1928 [he was Public Works Commissioner for the City of Boston], he married Mary F. White in 1903. Anna Murphy 1875-1904.  All of their children were born in Scituate, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA. 

We are looking for any information on the family in Ireland.  Why Peter stayed a year longer than the rest of the family.  The death of his mother. The ship that Peter came to New York on.
