Peter Nowlan aged 20 joins the Royal Irish Constabulary (RIC) on 13/7/1847. He resigns on the 24/8/1856. The reason noted for his resignation was to emigrate. Service  number 9397 Peter Nowlan is first mentioned when in 1857 Thomas Dowling writes a letter to Ireland and refers to his nephew coming out to Australia. Again no proof but this appears to be Peter Nowlan

Peter Nowlan married Ellen Kennedy in 1862 and had 9 children. He takes upland in Shoreham. Peter Nowlan becomes shire secretary around 1877 for some 20 years and died in office in 1897.

His son Daniel and family went to live in Sydney. Daniel and his wife died in 1911 with the Flu. The children return to Victoria and lived with their some of the family.
