I am Paul Lowry, 82, grandson of Peter Lowry (in photo) who was born in Ballydoolough townland, county Galway to Peter and Bridget Kyne Lowry. His siblings were Bridget Lowry Loftus of Clonbur, Mary Lowry Malia of Scranton, PA, Catherine and Martin remaining on the homestead. He married Mary Coyne and lived in Minooka section of Scranton, PA near his sister Mary Lowry Malia. Peter and Mary had nine children; Martin (my father), Catherine, Mary, Ann, Ellen, Cecilia, Bridget, Theresa and Peter (aka) Joseph. According to my research, my great-grandfather Peter Lowry lived in Ballydoolough until his death in 1904 at 85. His children Catherine and Martin were listed as still on the farm in the 1911 census. Bridget married Patrick Loftus and remained in Ireland in nearby Clonbur having nine children; Catherine, Patrick, Mary, Bridget, Annie, Thady, Helena, Letetia and John. My great-aunt Bridget and husband Patrick Loftus are buried in Rosshill Graveyard with son Thady. According to a 1945 death registry Kate Lowry died a spinster at 79 in presence of niece Letitia Burke. I have no information about my great-uncle Martin last mentioned as still living in the Ballydoolough tenant-farm in the 1911 census. I have no verified information on great-grandfather Peter's siblings. There are many Lowrys still in the area but they may or may not have been descendants of Peter's Lowry line. It is possible that Ellen Lowry Mae could be a sister to Peter but I have no verification other than a DNA connection to O'Sullivan's of nearby Cornamona. As a side note: my mother's Carney/Kearney family came from Islandeady, Letter townland, county Mayo - about 50km north of Clonbur.
