Migrated to /Born in Canada

Robert Dagg & Elizabeth Evans first appear in the 1851 Canada Census for Kitley, Ontario (ON). His son, Thomas, was aged 2 at the time and born in Canada so Robert and Elizabeth would have immigrated to Canada no later than 1849. They had, at least, the following children, all born in Kitley, ON:

  1. Thomas - b. 21 Sep 1848; d. 25 Oct 1905, Bethany, Manitoba (MB)
  2. John - b. ~1854
  3. James - b. 31 Oct 1857; d. 19 Jan 1930, Neepawa, MB; m. Sarah Jane Hopkins
  4. William - b. ~1860
  5. Hanna Jane - b. ~1863; d. 14 Jun 1895, Clanwilliam, MB; m. William Gibson;

Robert's wife, Elizabeth, passed away in Kitley sometime before 1891. By 1891, Robert (widow) and children Thomas, James, Hanna Jane Gibson have re-located to the Clanwilliam area of Manitoba. Elizabeth's maiden name Evans is indicated in the marriage record for son James (last name indicated as Dack) and Sarah Jane Hopkins.

A marriage record for a Robert Dagg and Elizabeth Evans, 7 Nov 1845 in Coolkenna, Aghold, Wicklow, though inconclusive, seems likely to be for this same Robert and Elizabeth.

According to a (very brief) obituary in Minnedosa, Manitoba Tribune, 2 Aug 1900, p.3, Robert passed away in his 81st year on 31 Jul 1900 at the home of his son James, in Clanwilliam.
