Thomas was a teacher in a school in Carnbuoy, Donegal County prior to his emigration to New Brunswick (about 1836). His residence was thought to be in Templecrone, Donegal. Travelling with Thomas and Margery were 9 of their 11 children - Jane, Flora, Hugh, James, William, Richard, Margery, Mary and Catherine. Thomas and John were born in New Brunswick.
