Robert Crawford was born in 1811 in the parish of Donacavey, Fintona, Northern Ireland. He came to the U.S.A. when is was around 11 years old, in 1822 with his mother, Mary McClung Crawford, his brother, and sister. They stayed in P.A. with his aunt for awhile and then went to Virginia, and then settled in Scioto, Ohio with many other Crawfords. Robert's father, Samuel Crawford, had come in 1816 and when the family came they met up. The rest of the clan came in 1840 on the Napier, and settled in the same area. There were 38 of them on the ship.
