Robert SCOTT is my 2x-great-grandfather.

According to his New Zealand death certificate, he was 76 years old when he died, indicating he was born in c. 1814.  Place of birth is recorded as Londonderry, Ireland, and his parents were Robert SCOTT and Mary STEWART.  He married Rebecca SCOTT (daughter of John SCOTT and Matilda ALLISON) in Curragh, Ireland (presumably County Londonderry).

He had seven children that I am aware of: Joseph (b. c. 1844), Sarah (b. 1846), Rebecca (b.1848), Stewart (b. 1852), Elizabeth (b. 1854), Margaret Jane (b. 1857), and Willam John (b. 1859).  Sarah, Rebecca, Stewart, and Elizabeth were baptised in the Presbyterian church in Donaghmore, County Donegal.  Margaret Jane, and Willaim John were baptised in the First Derry Presbyterian Church in Londonderry.  I cannot find Joseph's baptism (his date of birth is derived from the information provided on his death certificate).

The family is thought to have emigrated to Scotland in the mid-1860s.  They appear in the 1871 Scottish census in Glasgow.

Most of the family emigrated to New Zealand separately.  Robert SCOTT emigrated with his wife and youngest son, departing 27 August 1876 and arrived at Port Chalmers 18 November 1876.

Robert died 29 October 1890 and is buried in Dunedin, New Zealand.
