  • I hope the following information helps. Your Roger o’donnell Born 1860 may not match the one I have but I’m sure the families are related. Patrick Troy in Curraghkilbran, galbally had two leases one each for lots 3 and 4 from about 1826. In 1865 lot 3 was divided and John Daly took the lease for 17 of the 19 acres, with Patrick retaining 2 acres as lot 4A. Patrick died in 1876. The holders of lots 4A and 4B (about 8 acres I think) are then shown As:

1877 representative  of Patrick troy then  1881 David Keane

    1884 Michael O’Donnell

1911 Michael O’Donnell land act purchasing indicating he became the owner

1935 Rodger O’Donnell 1970 John McSweeney who inherited from an O’Donnell aunt . Mrs. McSweeney still lives there.

Next door to her is Tom Fraher. Next to Tom is Sarah McSweeney then the Daly land.

I hope this helps. Tania Sweeney see Irish central website for Adare conference for article on Troy land.

  • Dear Tom Nora McSweeney can be contacted by simply writing to her at Curraghkilbran, galbally, county  limerick. You might ask her that if she can’t help you directly, she may be able to put you in touch with her late husband’s O’Donnell relatives who may live in nearby areas such as ballylanders. Regards Tania Sweeney Australia

  • Tania,

Would you have Henry Foster's contact information?  I've tried finding it on the web and hit a wall.

Thanks again for all your help.

Dear tom sorry  I haven’t visited this page for a while but I see you were able to contact Mrs McSweeney who could help.  I see there is a connections to the Daly’s. Mrs mcsweeney introduced me to Willie Daly who now  owns the other half of the Troy land through inheritance. Mrs Mac Sweeney’s husband came from Ballylanders about 3 miles away. Willie Daly lives there but farms in Curraghkilbran. If you write to Willie Daly c/o Ballylanders Limerick and mention my name he may be able to help you. Don’t worry about a street address, the letter will find him.  With your permission I will email or post your family history to Charlie Richardson, who now lives in Emly, again not far away but lived in Galbally parish as he may be able to help. He is Willie’s cousin. Henry Frazer at Frasers pub in galbally will find Henry but he is a bit busy renovating the pub after a recent fire. Could I also post your family history to the Frewen family in Ballinacourty not far away. The family has been in the Glen for generations and might be able to help further. They will let me know my email if they can.
