Sabina Devaney was born in the parish of Kilconduff in County Mayo to Martin and Honor Devaney.
She arrived in Philadelpia aboard the Ship British Prince on 28 May 1882. She married her 3rd cousin James Henry and had 7 children. Three of her siblings also emigrated to Philadelphia (Julia Devaney, Edward Devaney, and Ellen Devaney).
