Archibald was enumerated in Griffith's Valuation in the the townland of Ardmolye, parish of Killaraght, Co. Sligo in 1858. Most of their children emigrated to the U.S. and settled around Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio.
Sarah can be found in a passenger list for the ship Algeria, arriving in New York City on 1 April 1875. Listed near her are her sister Ellen and a young man named Peter Shannon, who was probably a neighbor and relative by marriage. Sarah and her husband George Dempsey lived on a farm in Dover Township, Cuyahoga County, west of Cleveland.
