Migrated to/Born in Australia

The photograph was taken in Australia. Sarah came as a convict on "The Sir Charles Forbes". i837. Sarah along with Ann Downey or Downie stole boots from the Waterford Hotel. Sarah had previous convictions and had spent time in Mountjoy Prison. It is believed that Sarah was born around 1820 but there are so many variations of her age. On her death certificate it states that she was 79 years in 1899.  I have a photograph of her parents which was taken by A C Taylor Corner of Grafton Street Dublin. I was told her father was a coachman.

  • Hi,

I’m having the same issues. I have a Grandmother ? Mary Walsh/Welsh/ Lenehan/Linehan born about?1811 Dublin or Kilmurry. She too was a convict transported to Australia with two young children, William & Mary Johnson. Their father was John Johnson, a criminal that died in Cork Penitentiary prior to Mary being born. Mary snr stole a beehive and was sentenced to 7 years transportation.
Her death certificate lists a David Welsh & Mary Mangane as her parents!!!
    Now how confusing is that???

Was just wondering if any of these names are familiar to anyone? She must have had siblings so hoping to just get a breakthrough somewhere 🍀

    Cheers,

    Kerry 🤗
