  • According to another record Simon was said to have been born in Tyrone instead of Donegal. He is without doubt related to my ancestral Rouse family who lived in and around Strabane in Tyrone. His Christian name however does not fit the traditional naming pattern. This leads to to an interesting theory that his grandfather might have been Simeon Rouse a notary in Strabane, who was at one time Town Clerk for Strabane and a legal employee of the Abercorns. This is based on the fact that seemingly no Rouses were recorded in Tyrone prior to the arrival of Simeon in 1845, and Simon’s Christian name.. so Simon is the missing link in this theory.. unproven and most likely will remain so since Simon died having no issue which excludes DNA linking..
