Thomas Cantwell was my great-great grandfather, born in Ireland. According to the Boston, 1821-1850 Passenger and Immigration Lists published by Ancestry.com Operations Inc., Thomas (age 28) arrived in Boston on June 19, 1848. Massachusetts, Marriage Records, 1840-1915 show that he married Mary Haley on Feb 27, 1851 in Lawrence, MA. Also reflected are Michael & Catherine Cantwell as his parents. My great-grandmother, Catherine/Kathryn Cantwell Murphy, was their first child. She was born in MA, but the family eventually moved to Pennsylvania (Allegany, Turtle Point). Also living with them was Michael Cantwell, older brother of Thomas.
Mary Haley/Healy Cantwell reportedly was born in Roscommon, Ireland. Most census records, etc. that I have come across spell her maiden name as Haley, however I have been in touch with a dna match who says he has a genetic match with a woman whose known ancestor is Patrick J. Healy of Roscommon.
One more note...I have yet to find a death date for Thomas, but the 1900 US Census for Mary lists her as widowed.
