Thomas Dowling was born in 1766 and died in Moone in 1847.

The Dowling’s lived at the Mullamast Crossroads. It seems the Dowling’s lived inKildare and the farm they worked was in Wicklow.

His wife Mary Bolger was born in 1783 and died in Moone in 1870. They had 7 children. The sixth child born in 1814 was Thomas was my Great Great Grandfather. Nothing is known about Thomas until in 1852 when he marries Catherine Davis and with their daughter sail on the Marco Polo for Australia arriving in Mid-September. Thomas had lowered his age by 8 years.

In Australia he works as a farm labourer for few years until he gets a job as a Toll Gate collector which he holds for about 4 years. By this time he has saved about 400 pounds.

The next my father told me that he lost all his money. He said he did not know how the money was lost.
