Back to ListJohn Moloney enlisted in the US Army in June 1942, and his brother, Thomas Francis Moloney, enlisted in the US Army on Sept 28, 1942. Thomas immigrated to USA in 1926 with his sister Julia from Hynestown where he left his mother, Mary Weldon Moloney, and his brother John Moloney. Older brothers David and Gerald had already immigrated to the USA in 1923. The Moloney's moved from Moynalty Co. Meath after the loss of their husband and father, Sgt. Thomas Moloney of the Royal Irish Constabulary, to pneumonia in 1914. Mary's mother, Julia Finnessy Weldon, and her brother James who was a shepherd, lived in Hynestown, so Mary moved the Moloney family to her parent's home in Hynestown. John immigrated to New York in 1928, and, finally, their mother,Mary, immigrated at the age of 59 in 1935.
