Thomas Egan was born at Coolaneague in Kilworth, Cork in May 1895 to Thomas Egan and Mary (née Donovan) Egan; he was the 8th of 12 children. The family relocated to Clondulane, Fermoy, Cork ~ October 1895 after tenant farms were taken by British government for building rifle range and Kilworth Camp. While working for the railroad he was active with the Volunteers between 1917-1923; he emigrated at end of the Civil War to Providence, RI where his girlfriend Hanna Duggan had moved to. He married in 1927, had 4 children. He never returned to Ireland and died in 1944.
